Whether yours is a small, retail shop or an industrial heavyweight exporting around the globe, in the world of business, having access to state-of-the-art communications technology is a must for success. That's where Pierre Dumas can help.
Through D.C. Communications, Dumas and his team have been servicing the Sault Ste. Marie area for the last eight years, accommodating businesses in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. His firm offers a range of services: data voice-cabling infrastructure, fibre-optic cabling, intercom/PA systems, business phone systems, access control/security, and closed-circuit TV systems.
The company's portfolio is padded with jobs that have been completed for some of the area's most high-profile clients: Sault Area Hospital, Algoma University, Roberta Bondar Place, Tenaris Algoma Tubes, and Essar Steel.
D.C. Communications serves clients across Northern Ontario, but teams have also travelled as far as Markham, St. Catharines, Kanata, and Trenton to complete work for clients.
Central to the firm's work is its focus on customer service; its goal is to put the customer first. The same technician will work with the client from a job's start to finish, assuring a seamless transition between consultation and installation. Dumas says maintaining a high standard of quality, cost-effective installations has helped the company gain a strong foothold in the community.
"This ensures that efficiency and job clarity is upheld during the installation phase," he says in his nomination package. "It also gives our customers a more personal experience while dealing with our firm."
Safety is integral to the process, and Dumas is firm in his belief that staff should have access to the tools and training they need to safely complete their work in a timely manner.
Dumas started out as a communications technician, installing network infrastructure cabling, network systems, phone systems, security systems and low-voltage controls.
In 2006, he decided to branch out on his own. He now employs between six and 10 installation technicians and two full-time office staff — which, together, boast 20 years of industry experience.
"We are dedicated to customer satisfaction and always strive to ensure our customers get the best experience the first time around," writes Dumas. "D.C. Communications believes that we should service out customer sites with the same focus as when we first install the site, ensuring that our customer investments provide the best return on investment as possible."
Community involvement is important to the company as well. D.C. Communications has provided support for the Mountain View Public School food program, purchased jerseys for minor hockey teams in the Sault, and been a supporter for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Since partnering with D.C. Communications in 2012, Northern Credit Union has been impressed with the quality of work, said Matt Dunlop, who works in information technology for Northern Credit Union.
"Their team has quickly become our default vendor for all cabling and multimedia," he wrote in his supporting nomination letter. "I do not hesitate to recommend their team to any and all that require the services they provide."
Engineering consulting firm Met Energy Systems is equally effusive in its endorsement of D.C.'s services, saying the company has provided "instrumental success to numerous projects" over their years of collaboration.
"They are responsive to the needs of their clients, quality-oriented, and very professional in every aspect of their business," said Tim Janzen, an engineer with the firm.
